The Country Diamond Inn is a lovely old building, situated on extensive grounds for hiking (etc.), with an agreeable proprietor. The bedrooms are compact, as expected for an older house, and nicely furnished, with good beds and portable air conditioners; we also had access to 1.5 shared bathrooms (bring your own toiletries, excepting towels) as well as shared kitchen (stocked with cooking paraphernalia) and den/TV areas. Everything seemed clean and well maintained. The proprietor, Lona, was amiable and ready with advice or directions, but also responsive to her guests' preferences for conversation versus space/privacy. Her establishment is pet-friendly (cats included -- Lona has two of her own) with no pet fee, and Lona was kind enough to prepare for us a small breakfast of coffee and cinnamon rolls. We would stay again at the Country Diamond Inn, and recommend it to anyone traveling through or around Sidney, IA.
Google needs to add more stars for this one. Our hostess was amazing, she really babies her guest. The house is beautiful and charming with a rich history being over 100 years old. Emaculantly clean! I just cant say enough good about this establishment or the staff. Highly recomend!
This house was amazing. Such friendly hospitality. So many well-decorated rooms for only $60 a night. She could have charged $90 a room. You’ve got to try her breakfast too.
Attention, EV drivers, you can charge your EV at Level II if you bring your own charger. It is a beautiful place. Host Lona is very accommodating.
Highly recommend staying here!! We stopped for a night while traveling cross-country with a horse. Very clean, cozy room. Better than most hotels I’ve ever stayed at! It was easy to feel at-home. They have round pens for horses to stay overnight, and they’re big enough for them to move around and stretch their legs after a long trailer ride. Overall it was a convenient, stress-free stay at a reasonable price!
It was such a peaceful cozy place. The morning muffins and cinnamon apple rolls were yummy, and getting to spend a little time visiting with Lona and her 2 kitties Cassie and Markus, made it all the more pleasant. The beds were so cozy it was like sleeping on my grandma's feather beds when I was a kid. We will be going back.
Not too far off the beaten path. Quiet nights. Fresh air. Spectacular views of and from the Loess Hills! Lona the owner IS the diamond of Country Diamond. Great woman, heart of gold, always has a story from the heart and a smile on her face.
